Q: How easy is it to install an adapter?
A: The adapter itself is easy to install, the difficult part is removing the stereo, on some cars this is very easy on others it can be a little tricky involving the use of stereo removal keys which can also be purchased from our store. Need help removing the stereo? There are plenty of stereo removal guides on YouTube or a great site for help is www.fitaudio.com
Once the stereo is removed you simply connect the factory matched connector to the port on the rear of the stereo, simply route the cable and box to your preferred vehicle location such as glove box/centre console/arm rest etc then refit the stereo and enjoy your music!
Q: What is a vehicle specific cable and which one do I need?
A: The vehicle specific cable connnects the adapter to your car stereo using a specific cable. Please see our compatibility chart for more information or contact us if your unsure.
Q: Headset v Trunk mounting?
A: Some cars have the option of mounting the kit in the boot/trunk where a factory CD changer connector is located. Installation is easy this way as there is no stereo to remove however your device will remain in the boot. We can supply an extension cable should you require allowing you to use your iPod/iPhone/MP3 in the front of the vehicle
Q: Can an iPhone be used as a hands free car kit with the iPod adapter?
A: The Grom iPod/iPhone kit is designed as a CD changer replacement as a music source. If you are using the iPhone to play music via your stereo and the phone rings the music is put on hold, you can answer the phone in the same way as you do now whether this is paired with a Bluetooth kit or hand held. When a call is active the iPhone will not pass the call through the iPhone connector (Apple prevent this) therefore you will not hear your call through the car speakers. Q: I’m not sure if my car is compatible?
A: Please download the compatibility chart detailing all vehicle models.
If you think that your car is compatible but is not on the list then view our harness guide to see if you have the correct connector on your radio.
Finally if you are still not sure then please email us your vehicle make, year and stereo details and we'll let you know.
Q: Will my Factory CD changer still function?
A: A CD changer built into the stereo will remain working, any external CD changer will usually be replaced with this kit. Note: Your stereo should be CD changer capable.
Q: What return optiotions and warrenty do the Grom Audio adapters come with?
A: If you are not totally satisfied with your purchase for any reason, you have the right to return your order within 7 working days from date of delivery for full credit or refund less any applicable delivery charges. The item must be in the original condition without any evidence of physical damage or tampering.
All our Grom products are equipped with a 1 year manufacturers replacement warranty. If the item is not working you can always return it for a replacement within 1 year of purchase.
